Roane Medical Center is pleased to announce that Brenda Gray, RN, MSN, CHEP, has been named the new vice president and chief nursing officer at the hospital.  She will oversee all nursing operations at Roane Medical Center.

Gray has over 32 years of experience in nursing, leading clinical and administrative staffs at local healthcare facilities. She most recently served as the director of patient care services at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, which is also a member hospital of Covenant Health. At Parkwest Gray managed patient care divisions (including critical care, medical/surgical, childbirth center, and dialysis, among others), worked with nursing staff to continually improve professional skills, and helped oversee the successful implementation of an electronic health record.

“We are very excited to welcome Brenda Gray to Roane Medical Center,” said Jason Pilant, president and chief administrative officer. “Her commitment to excellent patient care and her experience in all aspects of nursing, as well as a skilled leader, will serve our hospital and community well.”

Before working at Parkwest Medical Center, Gray served most of her nursing career at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Knoxville. She began her career there as a nursing assistant on the orthopedics unit and later progressed her nursing and leadership responsibilities as a leader in the emergency department. Gray later served other Knoxville facilities in nursing leadership roles including quality director, interim chief nursing officer, and assistant chief nursing officer.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with the employees and community served by Roane Medical Center,” Gray said. “This hospital has accomplished many great things and I look forward to joining their journey as we all strive for excellence in patient care.”

Gray and her husband, Scott, have four children, four grandchildren, and two foster grandchildren. When not at work, Gray loves spending time with her grandkids, reading and traveling.

Gray is a registered nurse, holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and earned a master of science in nursing degree from Western Governors University. She is a Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional. She is also active in local professional nursing organizations.

Welcome, Brenda Gray, to Roane Medical Center!
