Our Patient Account Representatives will file claims for you with health care insurers or other programs such as Medicare and TennCare. We also will help your doctor with necessary documentation. If you need help understanding your insurance coverage or health plan, see your insurance company or health benefits manager. Patients with non-emergency or elective admission, who do not have health insurance prior to admission, will be asked to make a deposit based on admitting diagnosis and services provided. If you don’t have health coverage, Patient Account Representatives are available to assist you in seeking other financial sources. We will need your help with collecting necessary information and other requirements to obtain coverage or assistance.
After you are discharged from the hospital, you will receive a statement of your charges. You also will receive separate bills from your attending physician and possibly from other specialists for services including:
- Radiologists for interpreting X-rays

Located on the first floor of the hospital near the main lobby and information desk, the gift shop offers a wide selection of personal hygiene items, magazines, greeting cards, flowers, candy, and a variety of gift items. The Gift Shop may be reached by dialing (865) 316-2252.

Please follow these guidelines to protect your safety while in the medical center:
Use the nurse call system (call button) for help rather than trying to leave your bed to reach a nurse. The nursing staff is available to you 24 hours a day.
Most falls occur when a patient is attempting to get out of bed. Do not try to leave your bed or go to the bathroom without assistance. Use the nurse call button for help. Side rails on your bed are often necessary for added protection. Please call your nurse for help instead of trying to lower the side rails on your own.
Report safety concerns to the nurse supervisor.
Report quality of care comments or concerns to the nurse supervisor, administration, or external agencies.
Roane Medical Center is committed to our mission to serve the community by improving the quality of life through better health. The campus provides a tobacco-free environment, both inside buildings and on the grounds.
Patients who use tobacco products will be offered a nicotine patch or another alternative if needed during their hospital stay.
Visitors and guests who choose to use tobacco products will be required to leave the Roane campus before using them.
Roane Medical Center’s primary concern is for the welfare and speedy recovery of our patients. We ask that guests show special consideration and flexibility when scheduling visits. General visiting hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Some areas, however, do have restricted visiting hours. Children are allowed to visit patients (unless otherwise posted on a unit). However, for the wellness of our patients, we ask that you notify our nurses regarding children with any sign or symptoms of illness, especially colds, before entering a patient room.
We thank you for your cooperation in observing this schedule and any other visiting restrictions posted in the interest of individual patients.
Visitation Policy in the Intensive Care Unit
Patients in critical care are very ill and have an increased need for rest so they can heal and recuperate. Special guidelines for visitation are as follows:
Only two people may visit a patient at a time. Others are asked to wait in the ICU waiting room located near the Emergency Room waiting area.
Flowers are not allowed in ICU. Please do not order flowers, balloons, etc., for patients to be delivered to the ICU.
Patients in ICU wear hospital gowns, so family members are asked to take the patients’ clothing and valuables home.
Our shifts change at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Please keep in mind that the time between 6:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. are busier times for our staff because they are receiving reports and assessing their patients – this is very important to their care.
If you need to speak to the doctor or have any needs or expectations, please inform the nurse taking care of your loved one.

12:30 – 1 p.m.
2:30 – 3 p.m.
4:30 – 5 p.m.

For your convenience, high-speed wireless Internet access is available throughout Roane Medical Center and in the hospital service areas within the Professional Office Building.
