Laboratory Services

Roane Medical Center provides quality laboratory services to better assist healthcare providers when developing personalized patient treatment plans. As a member of Covenant Health, Roane Medical Center has all the resources of the Covenant Health laboratory services to better serve Roane County.

Roane Medical Center’s laboratory is a full-service clinical laboratory, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide quality service that includes comprehensive laboratory testing. The laboratory performs a variety of tests on blood, urine and other body fluid specimens that play a crucial role in patient diagnosis and treatment. Blood draws and specimen collection for outpatients and inpatients also can be performed at any time. In addition, STAT laboratory testing services are available for emergency situations.

The professional laboratory staff at Roane Medical Center understands patient care comes first. Comprised of a board-certified pathologist, state-licensed and nationally accredited medical technologists, and other support personnel, the laboratory staff always provides responsive and accurate testing services.

Pathology

Pathology is the study of disease through examination of cells, tissue, organs and body fluids. A pathologist is a specially trained physician who utilizes a variety of techniques in conjunction with the hospital laboratory to determine the presence and absence of disease. The pathologist at Roane Medical Center is available every weekday and is on call as needed.

*The Roane Medical Center laboratory is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, licensed by the State of Tennessee, and certified by the Department of Health and Human Services under the Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CLIA) to provide testing services.
