The requirement of not-for-profit hospitals is to complete a community health needs assessment and to work on solutions for the most significant assessment findings. The Community Engagement Plan defines what activities the hospital is committing to for a healthier population.
Prescription Drug Abuse
Develop a community plan to address to abuse and availability of prescription drugs in Roane County
Partner with the Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition to form a prescription drug task force.
Determine the feasibility of a Roane County transportation service for medical needs.
Roane Medical Center together with the Roane Health Council will investigate programs which may be replicated to provide transportation for local medical needs.
Provide a means for residents with limited resources to have access to prescription medications
Roane Medical Center will administer the community prescription assistance program, providing access to free prescriptions to eligible Roane County residents.
Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Incidence
Increase awareness among the medical community of the prevalence of neonatal abstinence syndrome and increase referrals for treatment.
Working together with the emergency room, medical staff and local medical community, identify women who could benefit from the M.I.S.T program (Mothers and Infants Sober Together), addressing the incidence neonatal abstinence syndrome infants.
Promote education about risk factors, treatment, prevention and disease management
To encourage more active lifestyles and weight management, Roane Medical Center and Missy Kane will provide a hiking series and biking events utilizing using local greenways and back roads.
