Take a look at our plans for the NEW Roane Medical Center...
Mission & Vision
To construct a new, modern medical center that provides safe, high-quality health care that meets the needs of our community.
To deliver a medical center equipped with advanced technologies, services and expert staff that will allow the best possible, quality care to be delivered to our community.
Decision to Build
It was Roane Medical Center's desire to provide a medical center where excellent patient care can be delivered to the community, which supports parent company, Covenant Health, and Roane Medical Center's mission of serving the community by improving quality of life through better health. A new and modern hospital will support a growing physician base, expand technology, and assure patients and families in Roane County get local, quality-based care for decades to come.
Roane Medical Center was built in 1939, and a substantial portion of the current hospital building is more than 70 years old. Even after various modifications over the past few decades, the facility could not accommodate the new technologies needed. The hospital has grown in the complexity of cases handled and the increased scope of physicians and staff. A new building is needed to match that transition.
The current medical center also is land-locked between a number of historically significant buildings, a few major roads, and various businesses, buildings and needed parking areas in downtown Harriman. Roane Medical Center and Covenant Health executives determined renovations or a replacement building would be difficult to achieve without disrupting neighbors or the long-established road system.
