Roane Medical Center provides personalized services for respiratory patients to ease their discomfort and ensure excellent respiratory care is provided. Treatments for respiratory disorders are classified as either medical or surgical, depending on the severity of the disorder. Surgical procedures are performed by a thoracic surgeon. Patients recovering from surgery will receive a follow-up examination by the hospital pulmonologist.
Medical treatments are used more frequently than surgery and typically are administered by inhalation or oral form. Oxygen therapy, for patients with emphysema or pulmonary fibrosis, also are managed by our pulmonologist, as our patients on mechanical ventilation.
Our respiratory care services include:
- Arterial blood gas analysis/carboxyhemoglobin
- CPAP/BIPAP ventilation
- Electrocardiogram (EKG's)
- Pulmonary functions (lung function studies)
- Sleep studies
