Thursday, December 02, 2010 - Covenant Health Selects Architect for New Roane Hospital

Covenant Health has selected The Lewis Group to develop architectural plans for a new hospital to replace the current Roane Medical Center now located in downtown Harriman.

Approximately 42 acres of land have been secured for the new medical center campus. If approved by The Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency, the new building would be built on Roane State Highway in Midtown near Pinnacle Point, a commercial shopping center located just off the Harriman/Midtown exit of Interstate 40.

“We are excited about the new hospital and the advanced technologies, services and expert staff that will allow the best possible patient care to be delivered to our community,” said Jim Gann, president and chief administrative officer of Roane Medical Center. “The community has been so supportive of us. We are happy to be making progress in developing a modern community hospital campus close to home and convenient for our patients,” he noted.

The Lewis Group, a Knoxville-based architectural firm, will develop designs and plans for the new facility.

“Covenant Health has worked closely with The Lewis Group on other projects. We look forward to collaborating with them in designing a modern new facility for Roane County communities,” Gann said.

Roane Medical Center will apply for a Certificate of Need (CON) through the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency. The CON is required for the relocation and replacement of the existing hospital.

Roane Medical Center, a member of Covenant Health, offers personalized patient care through its quality medical and surgical services, emergency services, prevention programs, rehabilitation support and health education. The hospital staff has extensive expertise in specialized services that include diagnostic imaging, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and many others. Roane Medical Center also offers services through its subsidiaries, Emory River Senior Behavioral Health, RMC Patricia Neal Outpatient Center, and RMC Sleep Center.

Roane Medical Center, located in Harriman, Tenn. and founded in 1939, offers the right blends of technical expertise, medical professionalism and hometown values.
